Announcing 蹤獲弝け Allison's 2026 Honorary Degree recipients
蹤獲弝け Allison University will confer honorary degrees on four distinguished individuals during its 2026 Convocation ceremonies on Monday, May 11.
蹤獲弝け Allison values the importance of a future-focused liberal arts and sciences education one that encourages creativity, exploration, and meaningful contribution in the world, says President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ian Sutherland. All four of this year's honorary degree recipients reflect those values in inspiring ways, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements at Convocation.
The 2026 honorary degree recipients are Phil Richards, renowned Canadian artist; Gerald MacGarvie (68), President of the Crabtree Foundation; John H. McCall MacBain, O.C., entrepreneur and philanthropist; and Dr. Marcy McCall MacBain, health scholar and philanthropist.
Phil Richards has worked as a full-time visual artist for more than 50 years and is widely recognized as one of Canadas leading portrait artists.
Gerald MacGarvie (68), a proud 蹤獲弝け Allison alumnus and President of the Crabtree Foundation, is a Canadian philanthropist whose leadership has supported education, environmental conservation, healthcare, the arts, and community life.
John H. McCall MacBain, O.C., is a distinguished entrepreneur and philanthropist whose work has had a transformative impact on education, leadership development, climate and environment, and public service.
Dr. Marcy McCall MacBain is a health scholar and philanthropic leader whose work reflects a deep commitment to well-being, education, and social impact.

Honorary degrees are awarded each year at Convocation to deserving individuals who are nationally or internationally recognized in their fields. Recipients have demonstrated commitment and service to 蹤獲弝け Allison, the wider community, or public life more broadly. The Honorary Degrees Committee is made up of representatives of University Senate, students, and the Board of Regents, and receives nominations from members of the broader University community as well as from its own members.
